How are we driving? 🚗

Last updated on April 24th, 2026

End of October 2025 we bought our first electric vehicle to utilize the generated electricity a bit more and being more independent from fossil fuel. For the 3 year old car, 38,000 km already driven, we payed 16k EUR. The car was planned to be our second small car for driving shorter distances to work etc., but we totally switched our 2nd car usage. The Mokka is used now most of the time and has soo many benefits.

Numbers

I'm collecting some numbers and maybe its helpful for you. The costs are the costs of grid electricity consumption for the share of charging relative to the total house energy consumption, means charging via PV is free of charge.
For fossil-fuel car drivers I also calculated the equivalent costs per Liter for a car with 6.5 L / 100 km consumption.

2025 (since Nov)3765 km178 EUR4.73 EUR0.73 EUR

Let's have a look into the months.
The costs are reduced significantly when sun is shining :)
But still in winter using the grid for charging, costs are much less than using fossil-fuel.
